ST. BENEDICT CENTER
Retreat Schedule
The Many Births of Jesus (Fr. Larry Gillick, SJ)
This Ignatian Silent Retreat will have presentations about the many ways that Jesus took flesh in the lives of others.
In these days of prayer, retreatants will be encouraged to spend time in imaginative contemplations of how Jesus came that we may have life
On Human Dignity (Abbot Mauritius Wilde, OSB, Ph.D.)
We will spend a day with the German mystic Meister Eckhart.
In his sermons and writings, he meditates on the immediate presence of God in the human soul. Eckhart particularly likes to stimulate our imagination by using metaphors.
Jesus: A Pilgrimage (Fr. Thomas A. Leitner, OSB)
A retreat for religious Sisters.
We will draw from the book, Jesus: A Pilgrimage by Fr. James Martin, SJ. We will follow the life of Jesus from the Annunciation to the Resurrection.

A retreat for women.
Join us for a transformative weekend retreat, where women of all ages are invited to find peace and resilience in life’s storms.
Jesus, The Image of the Eternal God (Fr. Joseph A. Miksch)
During this retreat, Fr Joe will invite us to reflect on Jesus as the image of the invisible God in our world today through the Sacraments, the beauty of the world around us, and how we, the Church which Jesus established, can be what we are: the image of Jesus to others.
Remembering God’s Action: Journal Writing as Prayer (Mary Gales Askren)
We live in difficult times – political polarization, growing intolerance and violence, climate change precipitating natural disasters.
In the midst of this, God says through his Word and through his action in our lives:
The Relationship between Spirituality and the Arts (Michael Bauer, D.M.A., Father Keith Winton)
This is the animating question in this sixth annual ecumenical retreat. It will engage us in the process of spiritual growth by exploring the various connections between beauty and spirituality in lectures, workshops, and liturgy.
Fathers and Sons--Together Forever (Edward DeSimone, Ph.D.)
This retreat for fathers and their sons, ages 11–17, provides opportunities for open communication and mutual learning between fathers and their adolescent sons...along with Mass and a traditional blessing of the sons. This fun weekend will include, weather permitting, dodgeball competition, water balloon toss, and a hayrack ride.
The Mass: Meaning Behind the Mystery (Fr. Jeffrey S. Loseke, STL, MS)
Every Catholic at some point during the Mass has probably asked, “Why do we do that?” or “What does that mean?”
Every word, gesture, object, sign, and symbol of the Mass is imbued with rich meaning and yet so much of it has been forgotten or is unknown to the average Mass-goer.
Creative Praying with The Saint John's Bible (Glenda Dietrich Moore)
Enjoy a day of contemplation and creativity with the aid of The Saint John’s Bible.
This Bible beautifully presents both Scripture and Illumination, and both will be used as we prayerfully reflect and respond from our creative selves.
The Lasting Legacy of Vatican Council II (Nick Manhart)
Today we will take a look at the theological and pastoral themes of renewal that guided the Second Vatican Council, a transformative series of meetings from 1962 to 1965.

Join us as we pray with and open our hearts to this holy Gospel, so rooted in the Old Testament and so foundational for our understanding of Jesus Christ and the Church.
We will pray with key passages of St. Matthew for a deeper love for Jesus and to help us as his disciples in 2026.
SILENT "Be Still and Know that I Am God" (Psalm 46:10) (Steven Blum, PhD, Joselyn Luedtke, JD, Adam Luedkte, PhD)

Living Elderhood: Prayer, Love and Service (Stephen Fogle, PHD)
“I think, you know, friend, that when one needs to jump, it’s so much safer to jump into deep water.” (Father Leopold in Monsignor Quixote by Graham Greene).

Healing Childhood Wounds: Letting Go of the Past and Rebuilding Healthy Adult Life Patterns (Father William J. Jarema, MS)

Icon Writing Workshop (Dmitri Andreyev)
Iconography begins with prayer and is executed with the sense that the seven days of creation are being represented in the artistic endeavor. This workshop is an instruction in icon writing in the Byzantine-Russian tradition.
Break into Song at the Deeds of the Lord: Praying with Music and Imagination (Fr. Bob Dufford S.J.)
Jesus invited his first disciples to come and see; they followed him and stayed with him.
Our God is full of surprises and blessed us so often in unexpected ways. During this retreat, which is based upon the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola, Fr. Bob will guide you to recognize the amazing work of God in your life.
Practicing Presence (Margie M. Walker)
Being truly present to ourselves, others and God helps magnify the graces of who we are and blesses the space between us.
In a culture of ongoing distractions and disturbances we can easily become disoriented. We forget that the HOLY ONE is EMMANUEL – GOD IS WITH US. Come for a day of slowing down and paying attention to what is deep inside and all around.
BioSpiritual Focusing: Multi-Day Silent Retreat (Debbie Sheehan, Jane King, Margie Walker, Lori Stevens)

Cultivating Compassion: Coming Home to Yourself (Terri Storer, Annette Jordan)
Come away to a deserted place all by yourself and rest a while . . . (Mark 6:31).
As you step away from the noise and commotion of the outer world, come into a sacred, quiet space to breathe, listen, and rest. A time to slow and soften into sensing the movement of the Holy Spirit, deepening an awareness of Compassionate Presence with God, yourself, and others.
Silent Directed Retreat (Margie M. Walker, Marisa B. Gilbert)
These four days of quiet will offer blessings in abundance as you spend meaningful time with your ever present God. Retreatants meet daily with a spiritual director, gather for prayer as a group and have the option of entering into the liturgies with the Benedictines.
