Leadership and Responsibility in the Rule of St. Benedict (Abbot Mauritius Wilde OSB, PhD)

St. Benedict devotes extensive chapters to the abbot,
...the cellarer (the monastery’s bursar), the porter, the novice master, and other responsible people in the monastic community. We will read these chapters and seek to discover what spirit inspired our Holy Father Benedict and which aspects of it are relevant to us today, as we ourselves bear responsibility in various areas of our lives.

Abbot Mauritius Wilde OSB, PhD, is the abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach in Germany. He has authored several books, including Be Yourself: The Call of a Christian (Paulist), and directs retreats regularly. For his reflections on the Holy Rule of St. Benedict, listen to Spirit Catholic Radio or visit www.DiscerningHearts.com. He formerly was our prior in Schuyler and then prior of the international Benedictine study house of Sant’ Anselmo in Rome/Italy. Visit his blog: www.wildemonk.net.
